So often awareness comes from the external world – can we take some time today to make it a bit more of an internal practice – ya know – really #connectgirl
I want you to think through the beginning of the practice – even keep your eyes closed –
think about each movement and word I am saying rather than just watching and following on the screen – be keenly aware of every movement – all of your muscles and that are engaging or stretching πͺ
It takes more work to work the little muscles than we think don’t ya know eh? #socanadianeh

This has been itching at me for forevaaaaa π
It’s been something thats just been speaking to me ever since I found Sarah’s Day YouTube {ps if you don’t follow her and want some positivity in yo life— go go go — nowwww }
Then last week as I was reading Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert it started itching even moreee- like I may just loose the opportunity if I don’t do it now {if you have read Big Magic you know what I mean #amirite β } and I was so excited about it – I had already filmed the intro vlog but it was taking me an embarrassingly long time to edit it #notatechie yo girl is TERRIBLE w the computering π
SO here I am introducing my first vlog – forgive me for all the fails
#1 I had an intro in there that seemed to just disappear into thin air so……
#2 I had a smoothie recipe filmed- same thing….
I guess ya live and ya learn – and thata’s what I’m doin’ – bare w me as I figure it all out girl! I am sooooo excite about it {like picture 13 yo girl circa 2000 going to a spice girls concert } – I just feel so in line with this π #yogiwoowoostyle
I want to share more of my workouts and more of my healthy hacks – plus I’m having fun making it all fun and blended w the muzak ya know π so get ready for lots of fun, sarcastic movement, food and knowledge vidoes – I have #alltheideas of what I want to do.
This also helps me work on my confidence with filming in the gym and stuff so…..

Let’s Talk Body Awareness and the Vestibular System

This is more #storytime of a time when awareness became super important in well- basically-survival π – {to put it in as dramatic of terms as possible π }
My other half had an issue arise when he hit his head and because of his impeccable body awareness when he is on the ice playing hockey he was able to know enough and know that he wasn’t ready to play yet.
Jill Miller- {my wonderful teacher} boldly states {in almost every training I’ve taken or assisted her in}
‘you can give someone the zipcode of where it hurts and the where the pain is but only YOU know the exact address”
Let’s spend the next while decluttering all of the stuff that has made us less aware of what’s going on- and cultivate that impeccable awareness of our bodies – cause you know- life or death situations #dramaqueenoverhere #imkiddingbutimnot π

π This week in our #bodyconnect book club we are covering “injury” – how you think about it what your first instincts are when you get injured and so much more.

In this weeks talk we are diving into my story of how I was in sever anterior pelvic tilt and how it was a hop skip and a jump away from injury.
But luckily! Yo gurl {moi βοΈ } heard Kelly Starrett’s amazing quote
“We all have the innate capacity to heal ourselves” {and did a YTU teacher training but more on that later} – mind = blown π£
So I got to workin’ on fixing how I stand, lift, yogi and basically approaches life πͺ.
I want to encourage you to do the same.
Take the time to sit down read the forward & intro from The Roll Model book by Jill Miller { http://sweatandyoga.comamazonrmmbook } and then take a moment of stillness and silence as you answer the questions in the workbook that you got in your love letter e-mail box this AM.
Then as you listen to this talk take a moment to sit back and think about a time when your mind was blown by a learning something about your body- {and if you don’t have a moment yet- don’t you fret – we are here specificallllly for those ah -ha moments of knowing and loving our body mind and soul}
Then get on your mat and give the more engaged plank a try! I promise its harder than it looks because #abs #corestrength obvi! π

I have been toying and talking to people- saying I may just do this. And now…

I am starting a Mind Body Soul Book Club!
I shall call him #bodyconnectbookclub and he shall be mine – he shall be my bookclub π
I keep getting littered with “coles notes” versions of Self Help books but I want to do more than just skim these fab books! Β I want to actually embody and understand the books.Β β¨Put the concepts into practice – examine them- you know – really UNDERSTAND them?!
I realized I binge on these types of books and then apply many of the concepts in my #yogaclasses so why not make it more “official” . Hey girl hey π
I mean I love gettin’ me some #bookclubbesties on top of my binge book reading.
I personally think to embody a concept we have to move with it {but I mean… I’m Β a movement teacher so…. I may be bias π€·ββοΈ } Walk and a good audiobook anyone?
Have you ever sat in a yoga class or been on a run and you hear a concept you’ve heard a bajillion times but all of a sudden it clicks???? Notice how often that happens in congruency with movement and you get why I want to marry all of these important concepts together right?
Now don’t stress- I’m still all about working out heavy but also being a little woo woo – this book club will be filled w much of the same! πͺπ
Some classes and talks will be hard- some will be woo woo – some will be both- we’re just rollin with the punches.

Every 3 months we will pick a new body mind soul book
{some of them will cover more of one area than the other – let’s not kid ourselves – there aren’t too many books out there that touch on all 3 equality and well β}

You will need about 2 hrs per week for the reading and completion of worksheets {this will depend on how quickly you read – #iamtheslowest π } plus whatever extra movement you feel compelled from the club to do. #absonfleek πͺ
